The Schetrom Home
168 North Massanutten Street

This two-story Federal colonial home is one of the earliest brick homes to be built in Strasburg. A brick in the basement fireplace of the main part of the house bears the date of 1825. Several additions have been made over the years to bring it to its current 14 rooms. The house has been occupied by prominent Strasburg residents including, for many years, members of the Keister family. In 1877 the propery was acquired by Confederate Veteran Cyrus Keister and was later lived in by his son, Carlos Smith Keister.

It is familiar to many longtime Strasburg residents as the former home of Dr. and Mrs. J. Marshall Winkfield and served as doctor's offices for Dr. Winkfield and Dr. Edward L. Hopewell. In addition to being used as a family home and office, it has been apartments and a weekend retreat for Leo Bernstein.

Steven and Rachel Schetrom purchased the home in 2010. They reside there with their two sons, Eli and Silas. It is also the office of Legacy Financial, Steven's investment company. The Schetrom's were delighted to share their home with the community.
